Pack Adventure: McKay Lake Trail 🐾

Let’s unwind along the McKay Lake Trail — a semi-paved, open path perfect for practicing calm leash skills and reactivity work in a more urban setting. This route offers long sight lines, wide paths, and plenty of space to manage distance while still encountering real-world triggers like bikes, runners, and other dogs.

📍 Location: McKay Lake Trail
📏 Distance: ~1.7 miles loop
🌇 Elevation Gain: Minimal – flat and accessible
🕓 Pace: Steady but relaxed – with stops for sniffing, training, and checking in

🕙 Schedule:

  • Meet-Up: 10:00 AM

  • Intro & Walk Start: 10:15 AM

  • After the walk: brief neutrality circle + Q&A on reactivity training

Expect urban wildlife and a welcoming crew of dog parents who understand what it means to walk a reactive dog.

Pack Adventure Guidelines

To make this a safe and supportive walk for everyone:

🦮 Leashes required – 6 ft non-retractable leashes preferred for better control around distractions
🤝 No on-leash greetings without clear verbal consent
💩 Bring bags and clean up after your pup
🚸 Children should not approach dogs unless invited by the handler
🧠 Give dogs space – especially those working on reactivity or fear
💬 Always ask before petting any dog
❤️ Come with patience, understanding, and good vibes – no judgment, just support
🎒 Pack water, snacks, poop bags, and anything your pup might need (treats, muzzle if using, cooling gear)

Looking forward to seeing you on the trail! Reach out if you need help prepping for this location or want tips on handling more urban distractions.
